Social Platform Database Compatibility Hardening
Stabilisation work on a licensed PHP social-networking platform and its iOS and Android wrapper apps, bringing an older codebase onto a current PHP and MySQL stack.
What we did
- Social-graph query rewritten for MySQL strict-mode compatibility
- SQL string quoting normalised across the query layer
- Temporary query-logging wrapper to isolate failures, removed once fixed
- Environment-based configuration replacing hard-coded constants
- Deprecated packages and constants removed
Outcome
Brought a licensed platform’s query layer into compliance with MySQL strict mode, using a debug-then-clean workflow that left no diagnostic code behind.
This was engineering work on a licensed platform. The base product belongs to its vendor; the deployment, migration and hardening described here are ours.
